霧峰林氏家族為清代唐山客橫渡黑水，篳路藍縷、深根台灣的典範。
開基於台中大里；乾隆末年林爽文事件致使林石牽連落難，事後平反。後代遷徙阿罩霧(現在的霧峰)，於漢番共處之地胼手胝足，辛勤躬耕，事業有成。其後協助平定太平天國之亂、戴潮春事件，參與中法戰爭，旗掌精兵勇將，加上取得樟腦專賣特權，成為清代台灣社會最具影響力家族之一。
霧峰林宅共分下厝、頂厝及萊園三大部分；1985年台灣政府明定為二級古蹟。
宮保第/1858年，台灣第一間閩南式官宅。十一開間五進深；詩畫彩繪、窗櫺細作，值得細細品味。
大花廳/1890年，面寬五開間，融合閩浙風格的福州戲台與捲棚、明廳與洞窗製作工法獨樹一格。
窗花行李吊牌設計概念源自於林家祖先輾轉的行旅、最終落腳台灣霧峰。取材來自於建築物本身色澤、質地，圖飾展現，以林家人的氣度與風範所展現出的色感。

During the chaos of Lin Shuangwen Incident, Lin Shi was implicated and home was searched. Posterity moved to Attabu (present-day Wufeng) searched a new life. With business talent and promoted to deputy general after participated to support Taiping Uprising, Dai Chaochun Incident and Sino-Franch War. Wufeng Lin became one of the most influential families in Taiwan, both in Taiwanese economic and political sides.
